Hey Text and Rockers.
Here’s our first full poetry book! We are proud to bring you Holy Roller! Poems on Keeping the Faith While Being in on the Joke. If you want to see us perform some of these live, head to the Text and Rock Youtube page and Subscribe! You can also grab a hardback version of the book for yourself or for a friend HERE.
Holy Roller is a poetry collection at play with the Bible, rabbinic lore, early Christian tradition. Leveraging the power of language and mythical landscapes, I try to show my readers how to understand their faith as part of human internal evolution and intellectual history, while holding tightly to the mystic responsibility that the stories of faith traditions teach when interpreted towards love of neighbor.
If you have ever had big questions about how to keep your faith in a modern, evolving world... you will love this collection. May it come in the side door with new ideas, hope, and blessing!
Okay that’s it.
Just click the giant album cover below and enjoy!
Also there’s some bonuses at the bottom. Cheers.
Be good to each other,
Mark Shaffer,

BONUSES.
Hey Text and Rocker! Here’s a printable poster. If you so desire, you can have this printed at shutterfly, mpix, or any professional poster/photo company. You can also print it on your home printer and it should still look pretty banger. Worst case scenario, you can just admire it here or ignore it entirely. Haha!
Here’s a Couple of Live Performances!
Both of these mini-sets were performed at local murals around Cedar Rapids. The one in front of our Lady Medusa, focuses on the environmental and ecological responsibility of humankind over and against consumption. The other set is in front of a mural called “Together We Rise,” and features three poems about responsibility to one another as human beings, despite cultural differences.
